PAIN TO POWER: Octophina's Story in Poems & Visual Metaphors is a a book about creative self-empowerment, healing, and growth through making bold, honest, and vulnerable art. After spending a decade in the rat race, Octophina found herself at the edge of suicide in her early thirties. She was in such severe depression that she could barely communicate. With no former art experience, she started doodling aimlessly in July 2021. In less than a year, Octophina developed her own recognizable visual style and a system for visual communication, which empowers people to visualize anything they think and feel by using 5 simple visual elements a 5-year-old can draw. This book tells Octophina's Pain to Power story through a selection of her early doodles and poems written between December 2021 and January 2022.
